Coaching sessions are designed to support clients in clarifying and achieving their goals in life. The following are examples of the type of results which clients achieve in the course of a singe coaching session (names have been changed).
Greg is 46 years old with a wife and three children. He had recently accepted a job offer, and although he had not yet started work, he was already resenting the new company. He believed that he had accepted the offer too quickly and was unhappy with the terms of his new employment. Greg worked with his coach to clarify what he really wanted and practice having an effective conversation to re-open the subject of his employment contract. After the coaching session, Greg called the person who hired him and asked if it was possible to renegotiate the terms of his employment. He ended up with a higher salary, better benefits and an additional week of vacation time.
Samantha is a 28 year-old single professional. Although she is very organized, she came to a session looking for tips on time management. As the session continued, Samantha started talking about the joy and satisfaction she gets from distributing money to worthy causes. Her dream was to create a foundation. By the end of the session Samantha had declared the intention of opening a foundation within two years and had created a plan of action for the next six months.
Nicole is a 39 year-old attorney at a large firm and a Baptist minister. She believed one of her colleagues at the law firm was self-centered and arrogant, and came to a coaching session furious at the way he behaved towards her in a meeting. During the coaching session Nicole got back in touch with her spiritual side, which is loving, generous and forgiving of others. When she spoke to her colleague, she apologized for the ways that she had contributed to the relationship deteriorating, and they were able to resolve their disagreement.
